Library Project

We are aiming to build a mini library at a rural settlement which comprises of just under 1000 residents. The plan is to convert 6 shipping containers into a mini Library and study complex, comprising of a PC Lab with internet access, as well as books the good old fashioned books – donated by our generous supporters such as yourself. Have any unwanted books laying aroung? Send them to us and we’ll make sure that they get to good use.

 

Telecoms & PC Labs

The PC Lab project is an extension of the Library project. A similar set up is required to convert another 6 shipping containers into the PC Lab which will house PC desktop units, as well as a large display/projector for teaching purposes. What is a PC Lab without being connected to the internet right? Connecting the rural settlement to the rest of the modern world will be done via piggy backing of the internet connection at Shanti Bhavan. Initiall an LTE connection will be established and thereafter routed to the settlement via 2 relay towers. We are looking for sponsors that can assist with internet connectivity, hosting, networking, hardware, building of towers, etc. Starlink, MTN, Vodacom, Afrihost, Vox and Cybersmart – can your hear our plea? We’d love some mobile data as well – as our voluteers also work between offices and offsite as well. CHeck out our Blog for more updates on all projects.

Training Workshops

We also occassionally offer training workshops to the youth, unemployed as well as the disabled. Some of our areas include Art and Design, Information Technology, Agriculture, Photography, etc.
